The event was a multicultural confluence, drawing a diverse crowd that included prominent Arab and Islamic community members, as well as numerous Scottish groups united in their support for the Palestinian cause.

A group of young men that recently climbed the heights of Arthur’s Seat and raised the Palestinian flag were recognized in the event and welcomed on stage. Following so, children in traditional clothes danced the Dabkeh on stage celebrating the Palestinian heritage and resilience.

The event also showcased the rich Palestinian culinary heritage, leaving a lasting impression on the attendees who lauded the warm hospitality and the cultural tapestry of Palestine.

Eloquent speeches punctuated the event, with voices rising in unison to underscore the importance of the Edinburgh-based Palestinian Forum and the broader Palestinian cause.

Adnan Hmidan, the Deputy Chairman of the Forum, encapsulated the sentiment: “Today, we come together with pride and hope to celebrate the birth of the Palestinian Forum in Scotland. This moment signals a fresh start in our journey together—a journey focused on understanding, freedom for Palestine, and supporting our friends in Gaza.”

“As we live through difficult times for our people in Gaza, it is important that we do everything we can to help them, and that requires everyone to work together for justice.

The Palestinian Forum isn’t just a group; it’s a connection—a link joining cultures, hearts, and dreams.”

Ahmed Masharqa, the Head of the new Scottish branch, echoed this commitment, “Gaza stands as a symbol of resilience and resistance in the face of unimaginable adversity. It is a beacon of hope amidst the darkness of oppression and occupation. And it is our duty, our obligation, to stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Gaza, to amplify their voices, and to work tirelessly towards justice and freedom for all Palestinians.”

The Palestinian Forum in Britain stands as a bridge, connecting dreams across cultures and generations, steadfast in its mission to reclaim the rights of the Palestinian people and to foster a world where peace and justice are not just ideals but realities.
