The Palestinian Forum in Britain Invites Wide Participation for Its Scottish Branch Launch
The Palestinian Forum in Britain (PFB) extends a heartfelt invitation to participate extensively in the inauguration of its new branch in Scotland. The event is set for Sunday, May 12, 2024, at the Iqra Academy in Edinburgh, under the banner “Together for Gaza.”
Ahmed Masharqa, head of the Palestinian Forum’s Scotland branch, emphasized the importance of having an official representation in Scotland, a region known for its strong support for Palestinian solidarity and rights.
He stated, “We strive to provide a platform for all Palestinians in Scotland, in partnership with local entities, to enhance our efforts in supporting the Palestinian cause and ensuring its presence in the minds and hearts of future generations in Scotland.”
The Palestinian Forum Comes to Scotland
Zaher Birawi, president of the Palestinian Forum in Britain, praised the new branch for continuing the Forum’s work across the UK, similar to activities in major cities such as London, Manchester, Birmingham, Cardiff, and Newcastle.
Birawi added, “Our goal is to institutionalize solidarity with Gaza into our ongoing initiatives, turning it into a permanent, organized effort that impacts the political and social scenes in Britain, particularly during significant electoral periods.”
The launch event on May 12, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, will feature an array of activities suitable for all ages, including inspiring talks, children’s activities, and Palestinian snacks. A special highlight will be the live streaming of the Palestinian flag-raising by PFB Youth on Arthur’s Seat, symbolizing the unity and resilience of the Palestinian community.
This significant event not only marks the expansion of the Palestinian Forum’s efforts in Scotland but also underscores the ongoing commitment of the Palestinian community in the region, who have been active for many years.
