The Jordanian Forum in the United Kingdom held its third annual iftar, which took place in a hotel hall in the Ealing area of West London on the evening of Saturday, March 23, 2024, corresponding to the 13th of Ramadan 1445. More than ten thousand pounds were raised to aid the affected in Gaza. Several Jordanian families residing in the UK and Palestinians attended the event.

Helmi Alharahsheh the president of the Forum, spoke at the Al-Arab in UK (AUK) platform, saying: “This Ramadan, despite sitting at iftar tables, our hearts are saddened due to what is happening in Gaza. This is not just a regular iftar; the goal is not only to break fast but to gather as much donations as possible to send to Gaza.”

Alharahsheh added: “Today, the organization ‘Action for Humanity’ is joining us, overseeing the receipt and delivery of these donations to our people in Palestine. We are also coordinating with other organizations to unify efforts in support of Gaza. I commend the esteemed presence of people from various Arab nationalities today; this is the natural state as Palestine unites the Arabs.”

Ali Qaddoumi, the legal advisor and one of the coordinators for this event, told Al-Arab in UK that “We should have a unified voice. We have been advocating for the formation of an effective Arab lobby here in Britain for a long time, similar to other foreign communities. We also hope that everyone supports Arab candidates in the upcoming British elections. We need a voice in Parliament to shape international public opinion supportive of Arab issues and opposed to the injustice practiced against Palestinians.”

Adnan Hmidan added, “These donations are the least we can offer, and we will always feel inadequate no matter what we do, but it is an honor for us to stand alongside our people in Gaza. It is enough for us to return to our homes with our consciences at ease knowing that we have contributed something.”

Al-Arab in UK continued the charitable iftar events, with the presence of several influential figures in UK, such as the Green Party candidate for Kensington, Mona Adam, of Sudanese origin, along with a group of Arab journalists including Mohamed Amin, the president of the Arab Thinking Forum, and other prominent figures.

The Jordanian Forum in the United Kingdom is considered one of the active Arab institutions in London and other British cities, with diverse programs ranging from social, cultural, political, to charitable activities. The forum includes several influential figures in the Arab community in Britain, and its services are not limited to the Jordanian community but extend to all Arabs residing in the United Kingdom.

Also these donations are pledged through the charitable organization “Action for Humanity,” which has dedicated this link to receive donations for Gaza during Ramadan.
