Following England’s incredible win over Wales, with 3 goals for nothing, UK trends were full of hashtags #WALENG, #Rashford, #Kane and #ITS COMING HOME all over social media. After the victory, English fans have been expressing their happiness and joy. While also hoping for England to keep winning and bring home the World Cup.

 

The English fans were delighted with the win and especially proud of Marcus Rashford, Harry Kane and Phil Foden for their excellent play that led to the victory.

The Welsh fans who lost their world cup dream after this match have been disappointed, but also proud of how far their team has come. It is the first time since 1958 that they have qualified for the World Cup. Twitter has also been trending with the hashtag #WALES.

High profile individuals such as Sean Maguire and Thomas Hal Robson-kanu also commented on how proud they’re of Wales’ achievement as they’re a small nation of just 3.1 million yet managed to make it to the World Cup ‘for the first time in 64 years!’.

After a goalless first half, Marcus Rashford of Manchester United scored in the 50th minute, followed 60 seconds later by Phil Foden of Manchester City.

The third goal of the match was also scored by Rashford. With this, he tied France’s Kylian Mbappe and the Netherlands’ Cody Gakpo for the competition’s Golden Boot.

In Group B, the Three Lions are in the lead, followed by the USA, who beat Iran 1-0 to qualify for the last 16.

After the game, Rashford said: “Moments like this, this is what I play football for. The biggest moments, the best moments.”

Now, England’s next game is against Senegal on Sunday 4 December. As for the Welsh team, they will be flying home.
