Manchester United were humiliated 7-0 by Liverpool in the Premier League, the biggest loss for the Red Devils since Boxing Day 1931. Since that defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers more than 90 years ago, this is the first time the Red Devils have lost by seven goals in any competition.

At Anfield, Sky Sports commentator Martin Tyler said, “It’s one for the history books. Nobody could have foreseen this result.

Liverpool supporters have expressed their joy for their team and the goals they scored on social media in the wake of the incredible victory. Following the game, the Twitter hashtags #Liverpool, #LIVMUN, and #United 7-0 were trending at the top. With only a few tweets expressing their dissatisfaction with the team, captain, and game’s outcomes, Manchester United fans were noticeably quiet on social media.

The win was incredibly special for Liverpool fans, as they “beat their arch-rivals Manchester United with 7 goals for nothing, their biggest-ever margin of victory in the fixture”.

Fans were delighted to say the least with users highlighting points such as that “Football is not just about trophies, its about creating memories as well. Liverpool beating United 7-0 will still be getting talked about in 50 years”.

Videos were also shared on twitter of Liverpool fans in the stadium during the match, chanting “viva Ronaldo” in front of Eric Tan Hag. As a way of annoying him, or as fans stated, “karma for disrespecting Cristiano Ronaldo.”

Fans were also creating memes about how Manchester united fans are “quite and embarrassed following this loss.” One individual shared a video of fan peeking at the game while their tv is covered with a cloth as they are clearly too embarrassed to watch.

Italian football Journalist Fabrizio Romano shared a video of Mo Salah on his twitter, along with the caption “Mohamed Salah becomes Liverpool’s all-time record Premier League scorer with his brace – its 129 goals!”

Manchester united fans on the other hand were saddened by the results. One individual shared “last week we were winning a trophy, this week we are holding seven to Liverpool. Life comes at you fast.”
