Global Solidarity Day with Gaza

As a show of solidarity with Gaza, hundreds of thousands of people gathered in Queen Victoria Street and marched towards Parliament Square in London.

The march was called by the UK organizing coalition comprising the Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC), Palestinian Forum in Britain (PFB), Stop the War Coalition, Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament, Friends of Al Aqsa (FOA)) and the Muslim Association of Britain (MAB).

People will be marching to show their opposition to Israel’s bombardment of the Gaza Strip which has claimed the lives of more than 23,000 Palestinians, the majority of them being women and children, and wounded more than 59,000 Palestinians.

Among the participants were prominent pro-Palestine figures like MP Jeremy Corbyn, the Palestinian ambassador to the United Kingdom Husam Zomlot, the leader of Sinn Fein Mary Lou McDonald, and representatives of the organizing groups.

The march in London was part of a global movement that spanned more than 120 cities in Asia, Europe and America, where protesters gathered in various relevant locations such as the US embassies, demanding an end to the aggression.

The organizers stressed that their demands go beyond the current crisis and address the root causes of the Israeli occupation of Palestine and the apartheid system that it imposes on the Palestinian people.

These events at the global level are a testament to the worldwide support for Palestine and the urgent call to stop the aggression on Gazans.
