Londoners rally for Gaza amid Israeli attacks

Thousands of people gathered outside the Israeli embassy in London on Monday, October 9, 2023, to express their solidarity with Gaza and demand an end to the Israeli aggression on the besieged enclave.
The protest was organized by several pro-Palestinian groups, unions and anti-war activists, including the Palestinian Forum in Britain, the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, Friends of Al-Aqsa and the Islamic Association in Britain, the Stop the War Coalition and the Stop Nuclear Armament Alliance.
Protesters wave Palestinian flags on London Streets
The demonstrators held Palestinian flags and banners and chanted slogans calling for freedom for Palestine and an end to the Israeli occupation of Palestinian lands. They also denounced the Israeli air strikes on Gaza, which have killed and injured many civilians.
Dr Ismail Patel: We will continue to support the Palestinians until they are free
Dr. Ismail Patel, founder of Friends of Al-Aqsa, one of the organizers of the protest, said: “We gathered today in London to demand the rights and freedom of the Palestinians. We call for an end to the Israeli occupation of Palestinian lands, and we will continue to support the Palestinians until they are free.”
He also urged the European governments and the British government to stop supporting the Israeli occupation and its racist practices against the Palestinians.
Israeli occupation intensifies bombing of Gaza and cuts off electricity, water and gas
The protest came as the Israeli occupation escalated its bombing of Gaza on Monday, vowing to destroy the military capabilities of the Hamas movement, while trying to stop the advance of resistance fighters who infiltrated into settlements surrounding Gaza.
The defense minister in the occupation government announced cutting off electricity supplies to Gaza, and that he would also cut off water and gas from it, knowing that the number of residents of the besieged Strip is 2.3 million.
The occupation air force also rained Gaza with violent raids; in response to the infiltration of resistance fighters into settlements around the Strip.
