في محاولة لمواجهة النقص الحاد في القوى العاملة في مجال رعاية الأطفال في إنجلترا، أطلقت الحكومة البريطانية حملة توظيف جديدة تقدم حافزًا نقديًا قدره 1000 باوند لكل موظف جديد.

وتهدف الحملة إلى جذب العاملين المؤهلين والحفاظ عليهم في هذا القطاع الحيوي، الذي يوفر رعاية أطفال مجانية أو مدعومة للآباء العاملين.

وتأتي هذه الخطوة في ظل توسيع عدد الساعات الممولة من ضمن خطة الحكومة لرعاية الأطفال للآباء العاملين، والتي تشمل جميع الأطفال ما قبل المدرسة من سن تسعة أشهر وحتى ثلاث سنوات، بدءًا من أبريل المقبل.

وتقول وزارة التعليم إن أكثر من 100 ألف من الآباء المؤهلين لهذه الخطة قد سجلوا بالفعل للاستفادة منها، ما يعني أنه على الحكومة توفير آلاف العاملين الإضافيين في حضانات الأطفال.

وتواجه الحكومة انتقادات من المنظمات الخيرية التي تقول إن الحملة متأخرة جدًا وغير كافية لحل مشكلة النقص الحاد في القوى العاملة، التي ترجع إلى أسباب عدة منها الأجر المنخفض والتقدم المهني المحدود والضغوط النفسية والجسدية.

وتشير دراسة أجراها مركز نيستا إلى أن قطاع رعاية الأطفال سيحتاج إلى حوالي 27,500 موظف إضافي لتلبية الزيادة المتوقعة في الطلب على الأماكن، وهو ما يمثل ارتفاعًا بنسبة 8٪ من القوى العاملة الحالية.

وتروي ليز جورج، وهي عاملة رعاية أطفال سابقة، قصة تخليها عن مهنتها التي أحبتها بعد 30 عامًا من الخدمة، بسبب الصعوبات المالية التي واجهتها. وتقول إنها تكسب الآن أكثر خلال عملها في مركز اتصالات مما كانت تكسبه في قطاع رعاية الأطفال.

إن الحملة التوظيفية الجديدة هي خطوة إيجابية ولكنها غير كافية لضمان توفير رعاية أطفال عالية الجودة وميسورة التكلفة للآباء العاملين، والتي تعتبر حقًا أساسيًا للأطفال والأسر والمجتمع.
