Twitter has trended with the hashtag RIP Cody following the news of the young man’s death. In addition to offering condolences to the family for their tragic loss, members of the public have criticized the government for not doing more to penalize knife possession. They have called for tougher penalties.

In addition, the venue has been criticized for their security failure, as they should have detected the individual with the knife and prevented them from entering.

Individuals, particularly parents, expressed their outrage on Twitter. As they questioned “ How many more children need to be murdered ?” they addressed Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and told him “Mothers and Fathers of this Kingdom are begging you and your government to stop this. We don’t have the power you do”.

Individuals also called out Home Secretary Suella Braverman and asked her the same question “ How many more young people are going to die before you ( Suella Braverman) take action and bring tough sentences for those in caught in possession of knives just like the UK did with guns ?”.

Other people criticized the venue where the incident occurred, arguing that it could have prevented incidents like this with better security measures, such as metal detectors at the entrance. According to one Twitter user, “if only the venue used metal detectors to stop the knife from getting into the club.” Had they done that, Cody Fisher would still be alive today” .

Some Twitter users were advocating for the venue’s license to be revoked so that security would be taken more seriously. Likewise, to persuade other venues to step up their security in an effort to prevent a repeat of the violent incident.

Dozens of people were at the nightclub when the stabbing occurred, according to the police. Although no one has been arrested, the location is still closed as police gather information and examine security camera footage.
