After Harry Kane appeared to grab his opponent’s shirt, the Everton midfielder Abdoulaye Doucouré was given a straight red card for striking Kane in the face.
The England international took advantage of the situation by theatrically falling to the ground, but contact was definitely made. But after Kane’s actions, chants of “cheat, cheat, cheat” accompanied every touch he made after that. At the final horn, he was also booed off.

Many people were sending Kane their heartfelt sympathy and words of encouragement. Others believed he was being overly dramatic, and some were annoyed as they thought he was truly cheating.

Public figure and Broadcaster Piers Morgan were amongst those who felt bad for Kane. He stated, “thoughts and prayers for Harry Kane tonight”, Piers sent prayers for Harry and hoped that this would not be “career-ending”.

They commented on the way he stayed down after the slap and how “embarrassing” it was.
