Red Ribbons and ICJP to Host Pivotal London Event Confronting Palestinian “Prisoner Execution Law”
The International Centre of Justice for Palestinians (ICJP), in collaboration with the Red Ribbons Campaign, will host a critical panel discussion and human rights forum titled “Together Against the Death Penalty: In Solidarity with Palestinian Prisoners and Hostages.”
The event is scheduled to take place in Central London on Friday, June 19, 2026.
This high-profile gathering comes at a deeply critical juncture, following the effective entry into force of Israel’s Palestinian prisoner execution law, backed by newly issued military orders to implement the penalty in military courts.
Following its prior passage by the Israeli Knesset, this move marks an unprecedented escalation that directly threatens the lives of thousands of Palestinian detainees and prisoners. The event aims to mobilize a unified international legal and advocacy front to counter this measure and the broader spectrum of associated human rights violations.
Distinguished Panel to Tackle Legal and Humanitarian Challenges

The forum will feature four prominent figures from the fields of international law, politics, and human rights advocacy:
- Dr. Mustafa Barghouti: General Secretary of the Palestinian National Initiative. A renowned physician, politician, and human rights activist, Dr. Barghouti is one of the most prominent voices advocating for grassroots popular resistance and civil society building. He maintains a powerful international presence in defending Palestinian rights and exposing occupation policies globally.
- Tayyab Ali: Director of the ICJP and Partner and Head of International Law at the prestigious London-based law firm Bindmans LLP. He is widely recognized for leading international legal prosecutions against perpetrators of war crimes and leveraging English and international law to deliver accountability.
- Khaled Mahajna: A prominent human rights lawyer working with the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs. He is among the few legal professionals who have managed to visit prisons and detention centers, documenting harrowing, firsthand testimonies of systemic torture and abuse inflicted upon detainees.
- Saif Abu Keshek: A Barcelona-based Palestinian activist who has spearheaded Palestine solidarity efforts across Europe for over two decades. He is a steering committee member of the Global Sumud Flotilla, a key organizer of the Global March to Gaza, and a representative of the Catalan trade union Alternativa Sindical de Catalunya (IAC). Additionally, he serves on the board of the European Trade Union Network for Justice in Palestine.
Moderator: The discussion will be moderated by acclaimed journalist and broadcaster Mathilda Mallinson.
The symposium seeks to dissect the profound legal dimensions of these legislative developments, explore available international legal protection mechanisms, and examine the pivotal role of British and European civil society in pressuring governments to take a definitive stand against these inhumane penalties.
