Global Mobilisation for Palestinian Prisoners Day Across 20 Countries
Led by the British scene, capitals and cities across the world are preparing to launch a large-scale solidarity movement to coincide with Palestinian Prisoners’ International Day on April 17th. Under the slogan “Red Ribbon Campaign,” more than 140 protest and awareness events have been documented across 20 countries, aiming to highlight the suffering of thousands of Palestinians within occupation prisons.
The Red Ribbon Campaign: A Worldwide Stand for Prisoner Rights and Justice

The Red Ribbon Campaign calls for global mobilisation to mark “Palestinian Prisoners Day” on 17 April. We encourage public actions throughout the weekend of 17 to 19 April in city centres and public squares worldwide to support thousands of Palestinians held in occupation prisons. These individuals face severe violations, including torture, medical neglect, and administrative detention under an entrenched system of apartheid.
Current data from human rights organisations:
- More than 9,600 prisoners or hostages
- 86 women
- Approximately 350 children
- 3,532 administrative detainees
- 1,251 classified as unlawful combatants
- 326 martyrs among prisoners
To date, 144 events have been documented across 19 countries. We urge everyone to wear red ribbons, carry images of the prisoners, and use the hashtags #FreePalHostages and #الحريةللأسرى.
