In an interview with AUK, the director of the Damascene School, Yaman Shalabi, said: “This is the third charity bazaar organized by the Damascene School in cooperation with the Souriyat Across Borders organization.”

She added, “Our role is to encourage and support women entrepreneurs by bringing together owners of startups with well-established business owners, but for this year, we also allocated the proceeds of this charity bazaar to those affected by the earthquake in Syrian.”

On the other hand, Samra Tayyan of the “Souriyat Across Borders” organization said that the organization’s role is to integrate Syrian women into British society and support them in establishing their own businesses by engaging them in the market.

Samra went on to speak of this year’s both social and charitable purposes, as it will help support the victims that were left homeless after the earthquake that struck Syria and Turkey.

AUK covered the event and spoke to some members of the Arab community present at the bazaar. Leen, which had a table displaying homemade decorations, expressed her happiness about being part of the charity bazaar.

Reem, that was selling different types of dates, thanked the organizers for helping her display her products and achieving a high sales rate, while Razan Al-Sous talked about the dairy products she offered, which are made from sheep and goat milk.

The bazaar also had a special corner dedicated to selling paintings made by children using canvases made of the tents they used to live in Zaatri Camp. These paintings left many lost of word and emotionless as they witnessed the life these children were part of.
