The greatest of all months and the holiest, and only those who seek happiness through faith realize its meaning … Ramadan.

“O, believers! Fasting is prescribed for you—as it was for those before you1—so perhaps you will become mindful ˹of Allah˺.” [Al Baqarah:138]

Fasting is the fastest to achieve Taqwa “Piety – Fear of god”. And through Taqwa, the heart becomes purified from this world’s sins and desires.

And those who do not fast, do not know the meaning of Taqwa, of being close to god.

Their heart would be vain, believing the lies of fake happiness, as there is nothing for the ones who turn their back on faith other than a hard life.

Ramadan and Palestine

It is a holy season that brings us Muslims together in a spiritual journey and ritual that reminds us all of what we have in common; our one and only almighty Lord, one religion, one prophet, and the holy book – The Quran.

During Ramadan, Muslims from all around the world become closer to god and return to their Quran. They renew their faith, abstaining from sins and pleasure hoping to be closer to God than ever.

Ramadan this year is no different than the ones before, it remains the month of Jihad and resistance, more so in Palestine where it still stands to show us what resistance really means.

Palestine, where they dream to end their misery by stealing the land, under the name of “peace”, with the help of Arab nations, alongside the shameful authority in Ramallah, that normalises the existence of Isreal, calling it “economical peace”

But, Palestine is still resisting, and in Ramadan, more sacrifices are made, and more heroes are seen arise.

Ramadan scares them, they anticipate and fear the rise of another intifada each Ramadan.

The Muslim nation’s wounds are many, indeed many, and it is difficult to talk about them in detail, whether in Syria or Yemen or as far as China and India.

But in the holy month, they stand together, as they remember those underprivileged ones, and are always reminded of how to help them. They are reminded of their martyrs, heroes, and those still captived.

Not that they ever forgot, but their presence is different this month.

And so those who do not realise the greatness of this month, face hardship and agony as they always looking for happiness; not realising it in having faith.
