Mosques and Islamic center gets busy around this time of the year, preparing for awareness campaigns to remind us of the importance of Ramadan.

To remind us to prepare for the holy month spiritually and not buy more food and decorations, not that there is harm in the later but it should not be the priority.

Ramadan offer the opportunity of forgiveness, and so we shouldn’t waste it.

Women and preparing their family for Ramadan

The burden on Muslim women falls even heavier, as they are responsible ensuring their family is on the right path. They struggle even more to welcome Ramadan and introduce it to their children in the right way.

Such as preparing gifts, decorations, Islamic challenges that would bring them closer to god.

Muslim also face the struggle of fasting and abstaining from food and pleasure in a society where food, drink and restaurants go on day and night!

And that is why the struggle of fasting remains only between the person and His creator.

Allah says, “All the deeds of Adam’s sons (people) are for them, except fasting which is for Me, and I will give the reward for it.” – Qudsi Hadith, Narrated by Imam Al-Bukhari in his Sahih.

That is why Ramadan in general, and fasting in particular, help bring you closer to allah, as the Almighty said “O believers! Fasting is prescribed for you—as it was for those before you1—so perhaps you will become mindful ˹of Allah˺.” [Al Baqarah:138]

So the goal is devotion! This is exactly what the child needs to learn in order to grow up with great morals in the middle of a different society.

We pray to god we welcome Ramadan with pure heart and intentions. Amen
