A Luxury Handbag in Paris Deprives a Gulf Family of Their Children in London
The “Qatar Council” account on Instagram, citing one of its followers, documented a tragic and deeply moving incident that took place in the British capital, London, where two sisters travelled with their young children—none of whom was older than six years of age—to spend their holiday.
The account reported that the mother and her sister left London for Paris to pick up an expensive Hermès handbag, leaving the children under the care of their domestic workers.
However, immediately after the sisters departed, the domestic workers fled, leaving the young children entirely abandoned, without any care or supervision.
A Qatari citizen later found the children crying hysterically in Hyde Park, completely unaware of where their mothers or nannies were. She immediately notified the British police to rescue them. Following the report, the authorities contacted the fathers, who flew to the UK straight away. However, British authorities took the children into custody under child protection laws.
Despite embassy intervention and ongoing diplomatic and legal efforts, the children remain under legal detention. The incident and its chaotic aftermath have also reportedly led to the divorce of one of the couples.
