After an investigation into his handling of a child sex abuse allegation, the former Archbishop of York Lord Sentamu was forced to resign from his Church of England position.
The report’s conclusions that Lord Sentamu ignored a victim’s complaint have already been rejected by him.

People were furious over the way he handled the situation; they were also critical of his rejection of the report’s findings. Consequently, the topic has been trending on twitter, the public seem glad that he has been forced to step back.

People were furious over his statement that “Safeguarding is important, but it doesn’t trump church law”. As people agree that Safeguarding should be the priority.

They were truly shocked over his statement.

They also tweeted in agreement that his response to “ the criticism of him is utterly graceless”.

One twitter user shared her opinion Lord Sentamu based on a personal experience. She tweeted : “ Lord Sentamu is despicable and has no humility whatsoever. I knew that back in 2010 when I reported corner about Ripon House female bail hostel which the Church of England run in partnership with the Minstery of Justice . I got the brush off.” She highlighted that individuals such as him “ are not Christian but believe in status.”

Individuals tweeted that his reaction to the review findings is “ entirely predictable, as he has been one of the worst Church of England Bishops on abuse issues”.

Many also encouraged the people reading the news and sharing it to “ say a prayer for the young man who was raped and abused by a clergyman and then dismissed by Lord Sentamu. He is the primary victim in this tragedy, not anyone’s career.”

People took this chance to attack those in power of the Church of England , as they “ lecture the government on morality. Yet they can’t get their own house in order first”.

People were sharing the news and their opinions, many believed that following this incident “ he should not be in the House of Lords either.”
