UK TREND: Rishi Sunak under fire again
(UK TREND) GPs, ambulances and hospitals are experiencing record waiting times on the NHS, and Rishi Sunak refuses to reveal whether he uses private healthcare.
During the BBC’s Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg programme, Mr Sunak stated that his healthcare was a personal choice. Pat Cullen, leader of the nursing union, said the PM needed to “come clean as a public servant”.
It was said that Mr Sunak gave the impression that he “didn’t only don’t use the NHS, but also did not understand the scale of the challenges we are facing.”

Following this interview, the hashtag #NHS GP has been trending on twitter as people are outraged at the way he repeatedly dodged the question about whether he uses private healthcare. People are tweeting that because he is so privileged and disconnected from the public and the crisis the NHS is facing, he does not speak for any of the people. (Valium)

Twitter users highlighted that the real issue is that a “ Prime Minster who hasn’t been near an NHS GP, doctor, nurse or hospital for decades. He cannot possibly know how any of us live. He cannot possibly make decisions with regards to topics he doesn’t fundamentally understand”. Therefore, the real problem is that by not using the NHS that he is destroying, he is showing extreme ignorance of the NHS crisis that the general public is going through.

Furthermore, it is clear that “ if he was registered with an NHS GP, he would’ve said so and the fact that he would not answer shows that he uses private healthcare”, which for some individuals didn’t matter. However, it is the fact that if “ can’t be honest and open about something so simple, then we can’t trust him with anything he says”.

Evasive answers
Another individual stated Sunak should be “asked how one books an appointment with an NHS GP” and the lengthy wait times to try to get an appointment, which would once again demonstrate his ignorance of the public’s true problems with the system.

Others were less concerned about whether he uses the NHS or private healthcare, but they still wished he had provided an honest response and demonstrated a willingness to speak with the workers and learn about the problems in order to truly assist the public as a Prime Minister should.

The public also questioned his claims on Twitter in the concerned interview because he kept emphasising that “he comes from an NHS family.” However, people found that hard to believe given that he went to private school with his siblings and grew up “in a 6-bedroom house in the posh part of Southampton.”
