UK TREND : Tory ministers statements outrages Twitter

UK TREND- According to Therese Coffey, ongoing produce shortages are only a short-term problem that should be resolved in two to four weeks. According to her, the UK should “cherish the specialties” it possesses, and under a seasonal food model, “a lot of people would be eating turnips right now” rather than focusing on lettuce, tomatoes, and comparable produce.

In addition, Therese Coffey replied that people could increase their income by finding employment, “potentially” working more hours, or obtaining “upskilling” when asked how the government is ensuring food security after food banks in York started to run out.

The hashtag #Therese Coffey, which has been trending on twitter, has been used by the public to express their outrage towards the environment secretary for her remarks made in the House of Commons. Her statements outraged people due to their ignorance.

People were sharing an image of Coffey along with a sign that states “ it is not my job to worry about people starving to death in the UK”. As the statements she has recently made which were shared in the tweet, seem to indicate a “ uncaring attitude towards the British public from the environment secretary”.

Furthermore, people were sharing the clip from the House of commons in which she made the “controversial’ statements and were wondering “ how did Coffey get to be an MP let alone a government minster ?”. People were saying that her behaviour is just “ embarrassing”.

People were also concerned with her lack of knowledge, as she was claiming that “ people should eat turnips”, yet she seems to be unaware or ignoring the fact that “ farmers who grew most of the UK’s turnips stopped 6 months ago, due to the major loss of labour because of Brexit”.

One twitter user shared an image of the “ Turnip king who used to produce 30 million turnips pa, but says business collapsed after the Tories came to power”. According to the farmer, this is “ due to a combination of rising energy prices and labour shortages, caused by Brexit”.

Individuals were also shocked at her ignorance as she stated, “ those struggling to afford food should just work more hours and find higher income jobs”. This is whilst she has claimed “ £196,690,92 in expenses (2021-2022)

Twitter users continued in sharing images of supermarkets in the EU to show that the British media’s and the Tory government’s attempt to claim that the shortage of fruits and vegetables is due to bad weather—a claim made by ministers like “brainless There Coffey”—is false and only an excuse.
