UK TREND : Supporters and opponents take on Harry and Meghan’s use of Diana
Harry and Meghan Markle’s new show includes a clip from Princess Diana’s controversial “Panorama” interview – despite his brother’s suggestion that it should not be shown again. Twitter has been flooded with over seventy-five thousand tweets from people who support Harry and Meghan and understand the relevance of his late mother’s interview clip. As well as other members of the public who have expressed outrage over the clip being included in Harry and Meghan’s Netflix series.

The British public was critical of the inclusion of the clip. They argued that Prince William wanted the footage to never be aired again for his mother’s sake since she was deceived into doing the interview. Therefore, by using this footage in their new series, Harry and Meghan are exploiting their deceased mother for fame and profit.

Several indivuals were also particularly critical of Meghan calling her a ‘ fraud who will never be as classy, as misunderstood, as genuine, as harmed or as generous as Princess Diana’.
Others commented that if Princess Diana were alive today, she would not approve of what Harry is doing. They stated she was a ‘loyal monarchist and seeing the royal family being mocked by her son Harry, would have made her ashamed of him’.

The supporters quickly shut them down, stating that ‘Princess Diana was blunt regarding William’s favouritism from the institution and that she wanted to shield Harry from it’. Accordingly, they believed that if Princess Diana were alive, she would worry about Harry and would support him in keeping his family safe in any way possible.

There were also many supporters of Harry and Meghan’s new series who were pleased with the clip they included of his late mother. A number of these people expressed their support for Harry’s actions and stated that he was the husband Charles was never able to be for Diana. ‘ He protected his family from the people who ate away at his mother’ and caused her paranoia.
High profile individuals such as Tamzin Outhwaite and Ashley James tweeted their support for Harry and Meghan, stating that ‘Diana would be proud of them’ and ‘They deserve to speak the truth’ particularly following the awful treatment Meghan received which should have not been repeated following Diana’s negative experiences.
