Sadiq Khan Unveils Ambitious Job Creation Plan
London Mayor Sadiq Khan has unveiled an ambitious plan aimed at bolstering the city’s job market and advancing environmental sustainability.
His initiative seeks to generate 150,000 high-quality, well-paid jobs by 2028, focusing on key growth sectors such as artificial intelligence (AI), financial and climate technology, and life sciences.
This strategy is part of Khan’s broader election manifesto, which also includes the creation of 170,000 new green jobs.
These efforts are designed to support London’s economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, with a strong emphasis on green policies and making London a carbon-neutral city by 2030.
Khan’s plan also envisages the establishment of a green jobs skills academy to support diverse, sustainable, and well-paid green jobs, doubling the size of the green economy by 2030.
The initiative includes a ten-point plan to achieve a “green New Deal,” aimed at making Transport for London (TfL) the world’s greenest transport system and enhancing green spaces throughout the capital.
