Solidarity Call for UK-Based Journalist Abdulrahman Ezz

Abdulrahman Ezz, an Egyptian journalist and political refugee residing in Scotland, is at the center of an escalating campaign of harassment and legal pressure, reportedly spearheaded by Zionist groups.
Known for his unwavering support for the Palestinian cause and outspoken criticism of Israeli policies, Ezz now finds himself facing charges in an Edinburgh court.
Court Proceedings
On Monday at 9:30 am, Ezz appeared before the Edinburgh Sheriff Court, where he was charged with two serious offenses. The first accuses him of committing a hate crime against Israel, while the second alleges incitement against the Israeli community in the UK. The court has adjourned the case until Wednesday, May 15, 2025, to allow time for further review of evidence presented by the prosecution.
Background on the Case
Abdulrahman Ezz has long been an advocate for Palestinian rights, using various platforms to condemn Israeli policies and express solidarity with Palestinians. His activism includes participating in anti-occupation protests, attending pro-Palestinian events, and maintaining a strong presence on social media, where he frequently calls for Palestinian independence and denounces Israel’s actions, particularly in Gaza.
These activities have made him a target of ongoing surveillance and harassment allegedly orchestrated by the Israeli-Zionist lobby in the UK.
Accusations and the Role of the Zionist Lobby
The latest charges stem from a complaint filed by Itamar Nitzan, a former Israeli pilot and representative of the Israeli community in Scotland. Nitzan is reportedly leading a Zionist group accused of systematically targeting pro-Palestinian activists, especially refugees and migrants. According to media reports, the group employs tactics such as repeated legal complaints, smear campaigns, and intimidation to silence dissenting voices.
Beyond legal charges, Ezz has also reportedly faced direct threats, including intimidating phone calls and visits from security authorities. These actions have raised alarms among human rights organisations, which view the tactics as attempts to suppress freedom of speech and peaceful activism. Critics argue that the Zionist lobby in the UK operates with significant backing from official and governmental bodies.
Calls for Solidarity with Journalists
Amid these developments, human rights and media organisations have issued urgent calls for solidarity with Abdulrahman Ezz. They emphasize that the actions against him constitute a clear violation of his fundamental rights to free expression and peaceful activism. These organisations urge legal and media communities to resist such systematic campaigns and defend Ezz’s right to voice his opinions without fear of persecution or harassment.
As the case unfolds, it highlights broader concerns about the balance between national security, freedom of speech, and the rights of activists advocating for contentious causes.

It’s a shame to see a migrant refugee who left his country seeking freedom being oppressed and silenced from expressing his opinions about a genocide that the whole world is watching live. It’s even shameful to accuse him of condemning the genocide instead of accusing those who are committing it for more than a year now leaving hundreds of thousands of civilians killed and displaced. I hope the court realizes that silencing such voices will not stop the work from seeing the truth cause if Ezz can’t practice his right of speech many will eventually do and the world will eventually condemn those who contribute in oppressing these voices.
