Palestinian and Yemeni Communities Celebrate Refugee Week in Glasgow
On Saturday, June 22, Glasgow was abuzz as the Palestinian and Yemeni communities came together to celebrate Global Refugee Week. The festivities were highlighted by a lively bazaar and a large gathering for speeches.
At the event, Palestinian activists showcased the dire situation in the Gaza Strip. They urged the international community to unite against Israeli aggression and demanded an immediate end to the war crimes being committed against civilians.
Dr. Shawqi Al-Dubai, president of the United Yemeni Community in Scotland (UYCS), emphasised that this event is part of the community’s annual activities for 2024.
He highlighted the strong Yemeni support for the Palestinian cause, advocating for the Palestinians’ right to defend their holy sites and reclaim their occupied territory, and their efforts to establish a state on their full ancestral land.
