UK TREND : Latest speech by Jeremy Hunt ignites twitter
Chancellor Jeremy Hunt has dismissed economic “gloom” in a major speech today, his first keynote speech since November’s autumn statement, and he has pledged to use “Brexit freedoms” to boost growth and productivity in the UK.
Jeremy Hunt, reading his speech in the style of a CBeebies bedtime story in the hope that people will fall asleep before they realise he's chatting crap.
There's more truth in a mountain of horse manure.

His speech was given in light of the rising cost of living, ongoing pay strikes, and demands from some members of his party to concentrate on tax cuts to stimulate the economy. However, Mr. Hunt disregarded any immediate action, claiming that the government would only lower taxes “when the time is right.”

The public voiced their criticism of the chancellor’s statements on Twitter by sharing their comments on his speech. The hashtag #Jeremy Hunt was trending as people were using it in their tweets, and everyone seemed to agree that he “was just chatting crap.”
Twitter user Steve focused on Jeremy Hunt‘s statement that “ Brexit is an opportunity for growth”. Yet Steve pointed out that we lose 4%of GDP each year due to Brexit and we tore up free trade agreements with 27 countries and the richest trading block in the world. Thus, he was questioning “what is Hunt talking about ?”.
Another Twitter user highlighted that “ when Jeremy Hunt talks about post-Brexit regulatory reform to ‘boost growth’ – he is talking about attacking people’s pay, terms and conditions – he is talking about long hours, less annual leave, canceling maternity leave and abolishing sick pay”.

Editor Adam Bienkov disputed the chancellor’s assertion that “the conservative party understands the importance of low taxes better than others.” Until now, “taxes in the UK have increased to their highest level in over 70 years” due to the conservative party.
Lawyer Peter Stefanovic was appealed to the chancellor for “ simply pretending in his speech that Brexit is not having a catastrophic impact on the UK economy”. As it is “ not just dishonest but it is outright negligent”.
Others were frustrated at him for blaming “ The Ukraine war, Covid, etc. Yet, the government is taking no responsibility whatsoever”.
Individuals were also annoyed with his claims “ that they will get inflation down, but it’s been forecast to come down anyways, so he can’t take any credit for it. It also means that prices rise will slow down but will remain high relative to wages. Brexit has and will remain a cause”.
Furthermore, it was shared that Hunt “ saying Britain is far too gloomy about the Economy” only demonstrates how out of touch the government is with the public who “ are on benefits, at foodbanks and can’t afford any heating this winter”.
