Syrian Tourism Minister Mazen al-Salehani met with a group of prominent members of the Syrian community in the UK at a social gathering hosted by Ayam Zaman restaurant in west London on Thursday evening, 8 November 2026.

During the meeting, the minister enquired about the wellbeing and circumstances of Syrians living in the UK and exchanged conversations with attendees in a friendly atmosphere. He emphasised the importance of strengthening ties between the Syrian diaspora and their homeland, as well as the role Syrians abroad can play in supporting the country’s recovery, particularly in the tourism sector.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the minister’s visit to the British capital, where he headed the Ministry of Tourism delegation attending World Travel Market London 2026, held in London from 3 to 5 November.

On Wednesday, 4 November, al-Salehani also toured the Syrian pavilion at the exhibition. The pavilion brought together elements of culture, tourism and heritage to showcase Syria’s diverse tourist attractions and the successive civilisations that have shaped the country.

Al-Salehani called on Syrians to return to their homeland and contribute to its reconstruction and investment.

Al-Salehani has served as Minister of Tourism since 29 March 2025, as part of the government led by President Ahmed al-Sharaa.
