Alarab in UK launches survey on the priorities and hopes of British Arabs for 2027
Alarab in UK (AUK) has launched a new survey, “Priorities of Arabs in the UK for 2027”, to learn about the issues that matter most to Arabs living in the UK and what they hope will change in their lives over the coming year.
The survey is available in both Arabic and English and takes around three minutes to complete. It is open to Arabs living in the UK aged 18 and over. AUK stresses that taking part is entirely voluntary, that participants can stop at any time, and that results will be published only in aggregate, without revealing any individual’s answers.
Participants are asked to choose the three issues that matter most to them from a list that includes the cost of living; housing and rent; job opportunities and workplace discrimination; education; health and access to treatment; immigration, visas and family reunion; racism, Islamophobia and hate crime; Palestine and Gaza; and other Arab issues such as Sudan, Syria, Lebanon and Yemen. The list also covers preserving the Arabic language and identity among children, the presence of Arab voices in politics and the media, and feeling safe in public spaces. Participants are then asked to pick the single most important issue, with the option to explain why.
The survey also explores how far Arabs feel their interests are represented in Parliament and by politicians, in the British media, and by local councils. It asks about registration on the electoral register, levels of participation in Arab events and activities and the barriers to attending them, and willingness to support important causes by signing petitions, writing to MPs, volunteering, donating or posting on social media.
Adnan Hmidan, Chair of Alarab in UK, said: “We want to hear directly from Arabs in the UK, not speak on their behalf. The results of this survey will help us focus our coverage and our work in 2027 on what really matters to people, and they will be a clear voice that we put before decision-makers and the media.”
AUK will publish the overall findings in its reports and articles, and will also present them at the Alarab in UK Annual Gathering and the Arab Personality of the Year Awards, taking place on Saturday 19 December 2026 at the Hilton London Metropole.
