AUK Announces Arabic Radio Project, Youth Employment Day, and Arabic Language Initiatives
Adnan Hmidan, head of the Al-Arab in UK Platform, has announced the launch of an Arabic-speaking radio project, an annual Youth Employment Day, and another annual event dedicated to celebrating the Arabic language.
Second Anniversary Celebration
This announcement was made on Monday, 21st October 2024, during the second annual celebration of the Al-Arab in UK Platform and Forum, held in central London. The event brought together over 230 prominent Arab figures, including cultural and artistic icons such as Sabah Al-Mukhtar, Ghada Karmi, Rachid Gholam, Dr Mohammad Alhadj Ali, Hamza Taouzzale, Haifa Jouhar, and Ibtisam Mohamed, the first Yemeni MP in the British Parliament.
Focus on Language and Identity
According to Hmidan, the Arabic radio project aims to connect the Arab community and Arabic language enthusiasts in the UK, offering a platform to preserve the language and identity while fostering conscious integration into British society.
Youth Employment Day
Speaking about the annual Youth Employment Day, Hmidan said, “It is a specialised event that brings together our young men and women with Arab entrepreneurs and successful professionals, helping them to develop their skills and secure better job opportunities.”
Celebrating the Arabic Language
The Al-Arab in UK Platform has also invested significant effort into organising an annual celebration of the Arabic language. This event brings together parents, Arabic schools, and language enthusiasts from a variety of organisations and backgrounds, strengthening the bond between language and culture.
A Milestone Year
These initiatives coincide with the second anniversary of the Al-Arab in UK Platform, which was formally established in early 2021.
This year’s event, held under the theme “United for Gaza and Lebanon,” also featured fundraising efforts that were well received by the Arab community.
