Arab Poets Gather for Major London Poetry Evening Hosted by Osaid Maher
London is set to host a major Arabic poetry evening on Saturday 23 May 2026, as part of the monthly cultural events organised by the Al Arab in UK platform.
Titled “Arabic Poetry Evening in Britain 2026”, the event is expected to bring together a wide audience of literature lovers, poets and members of Britain’s Arab community for what organisers describe as one of the capital’s most prominent Arabic literary gatherings of the year.
The evening will feature five Arab poets living in Britain, presented by artist and broadcaster Osaid Maher, in a celebration of Arabic poetry across its different styles, themes and traditions.
Among the participating poets are:
- Mahmoud Al-Haj Ali
- Mary Al-Sukkari
- Mohammed Al-Jasser
- Amir Ragab
alongside additional poets expected to participate during the evening.
Organisers say the programme will feature a broad mix of emotional, social, humanistic and national poetry, reflecting the richness and diversity of contemporary Arab literary experience in Britain.
The event is also intended to strengthen the visibility of Arabic arts and literature within Britain’s wider cultural landscape, while creating an open space for dialogue between writers, artists and audiences.
According to organisers, the evening forms part of an ongoing programme of monthly cultural activities aimed at supporting Arab artistic and literary life in Britain through accessible public events.
