‏18th Palestine Festival in London celebrated by thousands of Arabs and Palestinians

More than 3000 people celebrated the 18th Palestine Festival in London on Saturday, October 22. The festival was held at Byron Hall in Harrow, West London.

The festival was organized by the Palestinian Forum in Britain (PFB) and attended by several public figures and leaders of the Arab Community in the UK. Many had described the festival as memorable and delightful as they enjoyed the wonderful activities planned by the PFB.

Many guests shared touching and memorable words at the Festival, but the most notable was the Irish MP famous for his solidarity with Palestine, Richard Boyd Barret. As he came to London specifically to participate in the ceremony.

Head of the Palestinian Forum in Britain (PFB), Zaher Birawi, delivered a speech welcoming the guests and attendees, while also speaking on the significance of such events in supporting the Palestinian cause and honouring its heritage and history.

After his speech, Zaher rewarded the guests of honour who played a huge role in supporting the Palestinian Cause, among them are the Irish Parliamentarian Richard Boyd, the former president of the National Union of Students in Britain, Shaima Dali, and the head of the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, Professor Kamel Hawash, in addition to Professor Daoud Abdullah, author of studies and research on Palestine, lawyer Tayeb Ali, who heads the Justice Center for Palestinians.

Guests of the Festival enjoyed the performance of the famous British Iraqi Rapper who does not shy away from speaking his mind on the Palestinian Cause, Lowkey, alongside the American Palestinian Rapper Waheeb Nasan.

The famous Palestinian artist Kefah Zreegy and the Kuwaiti Artist Humood Alkhudher performed many touching folklore songs bringing everyone at the event even closer.

Everyone also enjoyed the Dabbkeh Performance by the Palestinian Dabbkeh Band that had come all the way from Palestine (MEK).

And as known by many, there is always food present at Arab events or gatherings. Guests enjoyed the different Palestinian ethnic dishes and many delicious deserts, as well as got to see a glimpse of their heritage, traditional clothes, books, and more.

Al-Arab in UK Platform (AUK) was present at the 18th Palestine Festival to show the point of view of the guests, attendees, and performers at the Festival.

When asked about the Festival, Lowkey had shown his gratitude for the event and said “We need more of such festivals and events to support Palestinians”

Meanwhile, the head of the Palestinian Forum, Zaher Birawi, stressed the forum’s enthusiasm to hold the annual Palestine festival, which is a heritage, artistic and political festival. Birawi stressed that these festivals send direct messages to the whole world that Palestine is present within its people and that the Palestinians will not accept anything but its complete liberation.”

Mr. Fadi Itani, CEO of the Forum of Islamic Charitable Organizations in Britain, expressed his joy at witnessing such festivals and events. Stressing the importance of introducing children to their Palestinian heritage and telling them more about the Palestinian cause.

Many had enjoyed the festival and will be waiting to see how the next year’s one will top their 18th festival.
