The king’s coronation is coming up on the 6th of May and more details about the costs and what will take place are being revealed, as a result many members of the public are outraged over the money being spent when the country is experiencing a cost-of-living crisis.

Amongst the lavish features of the coronation is the coach in which the king and queens consort will be travelling in on the coronation day, which is gold , has electric windows and its air conditioned. It has also been revealed that Ministers have set aside £8m to offer every public body a free portrait of King Charles, which has been branded ‘shameful’.
These details along with others have caused the hashtag #NotMyKing to trend on twitter as individual’s have been sharing their disappointment in how taxpayers’ money is being spent on the King and his coronation while others in the country cannot afford heating and food.

People were furious as “ millions are struggling just to make basic ends meet”, yet “ no expense is being speared for the Kings coronation”.
They were also sharing that previously people accepted the Monarchy for their love for the Queen, but now that “ she’s gone, it is time for the Monarchy to end. As people are interested in the “ greedy King and Queens consort and their gold coaches and thrones”.
People were calling for the “ Coronation to be cancelled and the money be used to feed the poor”.

It was also highlighted that “King Charles inherited £650 million tax free, gets £350 million a year tax free from the taxpayers’ moneys, and has an estate worth £22 billion that in never taxed. But he still cants pay for his own coronation’.

Indivduals were calling out the government for their ‘hypocrisy’ as they have set aside huge sums of money to cover the costs of the coronation, whilst government claims there’s no money to fund the NHS and to help “people who are starving and cannot afford to heat their homes”.
