Call for national demonstration in London on May 14 against 74 years of Nakba

Nakba Anniversary
5 May 2022

Over the past years, the Palestinian people have been commemorating the Nakba, to remain in the memory of successive generations until the full restoration of rights and the liberation of the land from the usurping occupation.

On the 74th anniversary of the Nakba, the Palestinians of Britain organize this year a national demonstration in London to renew their rejection of the Israeli occupation, and their adherence to the right to return to their land that they inherited from their ancestors.

The national demonstration is organized by: Palestinian Forum in Britain ( PFB), Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC), Stop the War Coalition, Friends of Al- Aqsa, Muslim Association of Britain and Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament.

The gathering begins on Saturday, May 14, at 12:00 Noon at the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), then the march begins towards the “Downing Street 10″.

Last year hundreds of thousands demonstrated in the streets of London and across Britain, in solidarity with the Palestinian people and in protest against the Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip, and against the policy of apartheid practiced by the occupation in East Jerusalem.

Reports issued by the Israeli human rights organization B’Tselem, Human Rights Watch, and Amnesty International have unanimously acknowledged what the Palestinians have been saying for decades: that the international community should hold Israel accountable for its crimes of apartheid in Palestine, and push for an end to the oppression of the people  Palestinian.

Palestinians need solidarity now more than ever

74 years ago, Zionist forces ethnically cleansed and eradicated over 500 villages and cities in Palestine, displacing over 750,000 Palestinians, and taking over 78% of the land of historic Palestine.

Known as the Nakba, or catastrophe in Arabic, this forced displacement was the basis for the foundation of the Israeli state.

Unfortunately, the Nakba continues to this day, from Jerusalem to Gaza through Naqab. Israel continues its policy of apartheid and ethnic cleansing, displacing and oppressing the indigenous Palestinian population.

Moreover, Palestinians living in the diaspora, uprooted by Israel, are also denied the right of return enshrined in international law.

That is why Palestinian people need our solidarity now more than ever.

Join us on Saturday 14th May to call for an end to Israel’s oppression and to assert the right of the Palestinian people to live in freedom with justice and equality.
