‘Bringing Jordanians Together’: Jordanian Community Gathers for First Social Event in London
The Founding Council of the Jordanian Community in the United Kingdom (JCUK) held its first social gathering on Saturday, 7 November 2026, at the Hilton London Metropole Hotel, under the theme “Bringing Jordanians Together”.
The event was attended by Jordan’s Consul General in London, Fares Khreis, representing the Jordanian Embassy.
The gathering opened with the Jordanian Royal Anthem, followed by speeches from members of the Founding Council.
The Council’s Chair, Dr Ghassan Al-Otaibi, gave a brief presentation introducing the Council and explaining the aims of organising these gatherings. These include strengthening ties among Jordanians in Britain and bringing their efforts together to serve the community.
Al-Otaibi explained that the Council seeks to coordinate the community’s efforts within an institutional framework based on clear governance principles.
He also highlighted the launch of a website and the introduction of a membership system that enables members to obtain digital membership cards.
He added that the gathering marks a step towards elections in which members will choose a new board to oversee the community’s affairs for a two-year term.
The Jordanian community operates as an independent organisation, working in close coordination with the Jordanian Embassy in London to support Jordanians across the United Kingdom. It welcomes all Jordanians who wish to participate or contribute to supporting members of the community.
The Role of Jordanian Women

In her address on behalf of Jordanian women, Dalal Jibreel shared her experience, which began in 2016 with a small social media group created to help Jordanian women in Britain connect with one another.
She explained that the group has since developed into a network for sharing support, experience and opportunities, as well as participating in community activities. She also highlighted the role of Jordanian women in serving their communities, both in Jordan and abroad.
Supporting Jordanian Students and Young People

In his address on behalf of Jordanian youth, Abdullah Kharfan introduced the Jordanian Students Forum, which supports students with university admission procedures before they leave Jordan.
After their arrival in Britain, the forum helps them find accommodation and adjust to university and everyday life. It relies on a network of young volunteers across Britain to help students overcome challenges and focus on their studies.
Legal Guidance for Jordanians in Britain

Legal adviser Ali Al-Qadoumi discussed the legal aspects of residency for Jordanians in Britain, stressing the importance of understanding official procedures and keeping up to date with changes in legislation to avoid potential difficulties.
He noted that organised institutional work helps strengthen the presence of Jordanians in Britain, serving the community’s interests and enhancing its contribution to Arab and Muslim communities, as well as wider British society.
Following the speeches, attendees were invited to ask questions and share their suggestions. A dinner was also held for guests as part of the gathering.
