“Three Years of Genocide—UK Must Act”: Rights Coalitions Call for National March in London
The Palestine Solidarity Campaign in Britain issued a joint statement today, Wednesday, August 19, 2026, urging the British government to take concrete action to end what it described as the “ongoing genocide” in the Gaza Strip, as it approaches its third year.
Warning of Continued Complicity
The statement stressed that Palestinians continue to face killing, starvation, and displacement, while British-funded humanitarian aid remains subject to Israeli restrictions. The coalition emphasized the urgent need for the British government to act to secure an end to the Israeli aggression and ensure the unrestricted flow of humanitarian aid into Gaza.
The statement also highlighted the escalating pace of settlement expansion, settler violence, and restrictions imposed on the Al-Aqsa Mosque in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, affirming that the British government must take action to lift these restrictions.
Call for a National March
The organizations that signed the statement called on the public across the country to participate in a national march in central London on Saturday, October 10 at 12:00 PM, marking three years since the genocide and demanding justice and an end to British complicity.
Demands for Concrete Actions
One year after Britain’s recognition of the State of Palestine, the statement criticized the lack of tangible actions on the ground following that decision, asserting that Britain’s commitment to international law “cannot remain hostage to the timeline of Israeli elections.”
The coalition demanded that the British government confront what it called “British complicity” by taking decisive steps, including:
- Ending the arms trade with Israel.
- Suspending military and intelligence support that facilitates violations of international law.
- Halting support from British institutions (including corporations, banks, universities, and charities) for the occupation or settlement activities.
- Initiating a ban on trade linked to the illegal Israeli occupation and imposing comprehensive sanctions on Israel.
