Rumination!

Rumination!
3 March 2022

Nowadays, many people of different cultures, ages, and nationalities suffer from various forms of frustration.

Perhaps that is due to their anxiety or stress caused by their reality or from society in general.

As well as from their inability to get rid of a lot of ideas that they keep rethinking over in a way that affects their lives. And this act of rumination will hold the person from succeeding in life.

So what is rumination?

It is to live always in anxiety and sorrow rethinking and going over what happened in the past or what is happening now!

And finding it hard to get out of the dark cycle that surrounds you, whether it is made of past situations or people, etc. Always have those dark thoughts in the back of your head until they become part of who you are.

Allah Almighty has guided us, and He began His guidance with His Prophet (PBUH) when He said: “It may be thou frettest thy soul with grief, that they do not become Believers.” [Surah: Ash-Shu’ara’, Verse:3]

and if this shows anything, it shows the great divine approach that gave the Prophet (PBUH) strength as He confronted his ignorant notions and dark thoughts, Allah had forbidden him from repeating and rethinking those thoughts, from rumination.

Allah had commanded His Prophet to proceed with his life instead and to focus on his mission, and not to sit and be overwhelmed by grief and sorrow, recalling the betrayal of so-and-so!

Stop negative thoughts

This never means that we should neglect our feelings, our emotions, those desires that we once dreamed of, and those we have lost or parted from.

But we must try to stop the dark negative thoughts and put a boundary between what happened and how it impacts our life.

And so those who succeed in life are those who were able to use their hardship to climb up the ladder instead of seeing them as obstacles in their life.

and let us remember the hadith of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH): “O Allah, I seek refuge in you from grief and sadness, from weakness and from laziness, from miserliness and from cowardice, from being overcome by debt and overpowered by men”.
