Thousands Rally in front of British Government Calling for Ceasefire in Gaza
On Saturday, December 30, the Palestinian Forum in Britain organized a massive demonstration in front of the British government headquarters in London, demanding an immediate ceasefire and expressing solidarity with Gaza. The demonstrators also called for holding Israel accountable for its crimes before international courts.
Demonstration in London calling for ceasefire in Gaza
As the 85th day of the aggression against Gaza unfolded, with ongoing airstrikes and artillery bombardments targeting innocent civilians, the protesters called for an immediate ceasefire. They urged the British government to pressure Israel to accept an immediate ceasefire, stop the genocide against Palestinians, and put an end to the ongoing atrocities.
Several personalities known for their support for Palestine in Britain participated in the demonstration. Malik Mohammed, the head of the Palestinian Forum’s branch in Newcastle, announced a global protest scheduled for January 13, to be held in all world capitals, exposing the world’s complicity in the occupation’s crimes. He also unveiled a major countdown campaign for a ceasefire, with 41 countries participating so far.
Ibrahim Khadra, a Palestinian journalist from Gaza and one of the speakers at the demonstration, stated, “The devastation in Gaza touches us all. It’s evident what Israel and its allies are banking on – ‘silence.’ But we refuse to be silent. We stand together to say: Free Free Palestine!” He emphasized that their collective voice would resonate stronger than ever.
Dr. Anas Al-Takriti, the head of the Cordoba Foundation for the Dialogue of Cultures, stated during the demonstration, “The fact is that the world is now a different place because of Gaza. The entire world is a different place because of Gaza. We must ensure the world doesn’t forget.” He added that Gaza’s people are fighting for truth and justice, exposing the lies of the media and politicians.
Loujain Abdullah, the spokeswoman for the Palestinian Forum in Britain, declared, “Enough of this genocide. Enough of your complicit silence. The world must hear our plea for justice and humanity.”
Lujain Abdullah added a poignant dimension, stating, “You cannot wash your hands of the blood of the Palestinian children when you’ve got factories on this very land that equip the oppressor. We demand accountability for funding the atrocities.”
Malek Mohammed, the head of the Palestinian Forum’s branch in Newcastle, eloquently expressed, “Our collective voice echoes louder with each passing day. We won’t rest until justice prevails and Gaza finds peace.”
Rima Abu Samra, a Palestinian activist, proclaimed, “The Palestinian spirit is unbreakable. We will resist until justice is served, and our voices will resonate globally.”
Loki, the renowned artist, concluded with a resolute statement, “Artists bear witness to history. We use our craft to amplify the voices of the oppressed. Gaza’s plight demands our attention, and through our collective efforts, we will change the narrative.”
As the Palestinian Forum calls on everyone to persist in their protests, urging governments, particularly their own, to condemn the genocidal war on Gaza and diplomatically pressure Israel, the fight for justice persists. The echoes of this collective voice will be the catalyst for change. Keep protesting, keep advocating, and let the call for peace resonate globally.
