The history behind Saudi National Day

Saudi National Day commemorates the unification of the Kingdom on September 23 every year. This date goes back to the royal decree issued by King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman bin Faisal Al Saud, which changed the name of the state from Kingdom of Hejaz and Najd and its annexes to Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The unification date was 21 Jumada Al-Awwal 1351 AH, which corresponds to September 23, 1932.

A brief overview of Saudi Arabia’s history Saudi Arabia’s history dates back to the middle of the fifteenth century AD, when Mani bin Rabia Al-Muraidi, the ancestor of Al Saud family, migrated from near Qatif to Najd where he established the city of Diriyah.
