Young man saves a victim from sexual assault

Christopher Fletcher witnessed a woman being sexually assaulted by a man. He quickly rushed to her help by putting the assailant in a chokehold.

The woman was walking alone at night in Southport, Merseyside, when she was attacked by 23-year-old Steven Lequesne, reports the Daily Mail. Fletcher heard the woman’s cries and immediately rushed to fend off the attacker.

After making sure he’s not going anywhere, Fletcher called the police and waited with the victim until their arrival.

Lequesne was found as ‘dangerous’ and was jailed for 10-and-a-half years, with an extended four-and-a-half years on licence.

Dozens of refugees arrive on the beaches of Kent

Dozens of migrants have arrived on a Kent beach as smugglers try to take advantage of calmer waters.

Kent has seen the arrival of over 60 migrants crossing the Channel on three dinghies. They were immediately detained by officers upon reaching the coast, Daily Mail says.

This comes after days of over 1500 migrants illegally reaching British shores in only four days. Some British newspapers and magazines are calling this current surge in migration numbers a “migrant crisis”.

Lorry driver shortages.. Should we be concerned?

Many sectors have been hit by the shortages in lorry drivers; fuel seeing the biggest hit of all. But how concerned should the country be?

According to the BBC, the UK is seeing a shortage of more than 100,000 qualified drivers.

The government is trying multiple measure in order to mitigate the shortage’s effects on the country. These include temporary visas, increased HGV licence testing and better working conditions for the sector.

The effects thus far have been most apparent in supply shortages in supermarkets and petrol forecourts. Some supermarkets have seen empty shelves in fresh produce and short shelf-life items.
