The Yemeni community in Birmingham came together on 26 September to celebrate the 63rd anniversary of the September Revolution (1962) and the 62nd anniversary of the October Revolution (1963).

The event, held at the Amanat Moaz Centre, drew one of the largest turnouts since the annual celebration began three years ago, as hundreds of Yemenis from across the UK gathered to honour their country’s enduring struggle for freedom and unity.

The dual commemoration reflected the shared revolutionary spirit of Yemen’s north and south, highlighting a collective national identity and a unity of purpose that continues to inspire Yemenis at home and abroad.

The evening featured a vibrant mix of traditional Yemeni dances, patriotic songs, and a children’s theatrical performance depicting Yemen’s fight against tyranny and colonial rule.

The stage came alive with colour and rhythm as young performers celebrated the history and values of the two revolutions through music and storytelling.

Alongside the performances, art competitions for children in drawing and photography focused on national symbols and heroes of the revolutions—turning the event into a living classroom about Yemen’s history and identity.

Community members described the atmosphere as deeply emotional and unifying, with many attendees travelling from other British cities to take part.
