According to the European Council for Fatwa and Research, the moon’s conjunction will occur at 00:45 GMT on Friday, 28 February 2025 (29 Sha’ban 1446 AH), equivalent to 15:45 Makkah time.

Based on these calculations, the crescent moon is expected to be visible after sunset on 29 Sha’ban 1446 AH, either with the naked eye or using telescopes.

As a result, Ramadan 2025 is expected to begin on Saturday, 1 March 2025, subject to official confirmation.

When Is Eid al-Fitr 2025?

The crescent for Shawwal 1446 AH is expected to form at 10:58 GMT on Saturday, 29 March 2025 (29 Ramadan 1446 AH), equivalent to 13:58 Makkah time. The new moon should be visible in North America and northern South America, either with the naked eye or observation tools.

This suggests that Eid al-Fitr will fall on Sunday, 30 March 2025, subject to local confirmation.
