Over 400,000 Demand Nobel Peace Prize for Gaza’s Doctors and UN’s Francesca Albanese

More than 407,000 people have signed a global petition launched by the international campaign group Avaaz, calling for the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize to be awarded to Francesca Albanese, the UN Special Rapporteur for the occupied Palestinian territories, and to the doctors of Gaza, who have continued to deliver lifesaving care amid relentless airstrikes and siege.
The campaign is pushing to reach half a million signatures, seeking to secure international recognition for Albanese’s outspoken advocacy and for the extraordinary courage and commitment shown by Gaza’s medical workers, many of whom have operated under siege with barely any supplies or safety.
The petition, addressed to the Nobel Committee and nominating bodies, reads:
“We are citizens from across the world who believe that Francesca Albanese and the doctors working in Gaza deserve the Nobel Peace Prize.”
The Voice of Truth Meets the Scalpel of Mercy
Francesca Albanese, a legal scholar and UN expert, has become known for her principled and unapologetic stance on Israel’s treatment of Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank. She has faced fierce backlash for her work, particularly under the administration of former US President Donald Trump, who sought to undermine her credibility.
Gaza’s doctors, meanwhile, have become the last line of defence for civilians trapped in a warzone. With little to no electricity, dwindling supplies and hospitals under direct attack, they have continued to treat the wounded with extraordinary resilience and professionalism — often performing surgery without anaesthetic, and working by torchlight in ruins.
Avaaz described the joint nomination as “a tribute to the human conscience in its purest form” and “a global message that redefines peace not as silence or neutrality, but as action in the face of injustice”.
A Prize for Humanity, Not Politics
At a time when words like “peace” and “justice” are being hollowed out, campaigns like this offer a necessary corrective — a reminder that peace is not preserved by silence, but often betrayed by it.
From UN platforms to Gaza’s overwhelmed hospitals, this petition carries a clear message to the Nobel Committee and the world:
Honour those who stood in the face of death. Choose life. Choose dignity. Choose justice.

Francesca Albanese & every doctor working in Gaza deserve the Nobel Peace Prize for the work they have done, and continue to do. I can’t think of another person in the world who has earned it more.
