Bridging Cultures in Parenting: Dr. Jassem Al-Mutawa Offers Guidance to Families in Britain

On the evening of Saturday, September 13, 2025, the British capital London hosted Kuwaiti educational expert Dr. Jassem al Mutawa in an educational seminar organized by the platform AL-Arab in UK, as part of its monthly series. The event saw wide attendance from Arab families and those interested in educational and social affairs.
The seminar was introduced by the platform’s director, Adnan Hmidan, who stressed that the goal was to open a serious space for discussion on the issues facing Arab families in the diaspora—particularly regarding preserving identity while adapting to British society.
Family Stability and Educational Challenges
In the first part of the event, Dr. Jassem al Mutawa offered an analytical reading of the various challenges Arab families face in the West. He emphasized that preserving identity is a central pillar in raising children.
Al-Mutawa explained that the decision to settle in the West or return to the homeland carries complex educational and cultural dimensions and is directly linked to children’s upbringing and their psychological and social resilience.
He pointed out that Arab families need to build a “dual awareness,” which involves instilling important educational values and traditions within the home while simultaneously developing children’s social and cultural adaptation skills. This, he noted, helps them integrate without losing their identity.
Audience Engagement and Rich Contributions
In the second part of the event, attendees engaged by asking questions and sharing personal experiences about educational pressures, language challenges, and the preservation of values within the family.
Dr. Jassem al Mutawa provided analytical and practical responses, presenting applicable strategies that help families balance the demands of Western society with the preservation of cultural identity.
He highlighted the importance of open dialogue between parents and children as a fundamental tool for understanding their needs and supporting them in facing integration challenges. He also underlined the role of community institutions in supporting this process and providing a comprehensive educational and social environment.
The core message participants took away from Dr. Al-Mutawa’s talk was that raising children in the West requires a balanced strategy—one that combines identity with openness and is grounded in continuous family and community dialogue. This, he argued, is key to nurturing a generation capable of integrating without abandoning its cultural and religious roots.
The seminar concluded with a group photo of attendees alongside Dr. Jassem al Mutawa According to participants, the event left a strong impression, showcasing the important role of the platform in offering content that bridges educational expertise with community engagement, and in hosting distinguished guests with wide-ranging experience, such as Dr. Al-Mutawa.
