Angry Drivers Attack Environmental Activists After They Block The Road

Clashes between environmental activists and drivers on-road M25, where angry drivers dragged protesters across the road to unblock it

According to The Mirror, around 20 protesters blocked the main junction to St. Clements Way and London Road in Thurrock, which forced some vehicles, even HGV, to change their route.

The sound of horns became louder as some drivers got out to face the protesters that were laying on the road.

Some angry drivers tried dragging the protesters across the street, but they came back to their spots and continues blocking the road.

The police stated, “We have made some arrests following the reports of people blocking road M25”. They added, “We know this will be frustrating for people caught up in traffic but we appreciate your patience and understanding.”

Protesters block the main road for the 13th time despite high court injunctions.

As reported, this is the 13^th protest organized by Insulate Britain to draw attention to the negative effect vehicles have on the environment and climate change.

The high court has granted Transport for London injunctions against the group, to stop further blocking roads. The injunctions apply to 14 different areas in London.

Upon the high court extending the injunctions to the end of the next month, the members of the group had burned the court orders in protest of the decision in front of the Royal Courts of Justice.

Despite the arrests and the angry response of the commuters, the group said that they were praised by many people for their actions.

Dr. Diana Warner, one of Insulate Britain’s supporters, said: “Many people are going out of their way to thank us. Some come out of their cars to thank us, some are police officers involved with our arrests.

“To them, we bring hope – we haven’t yet given up. We are still pushing for life-saving changes.”

The group had raised a discussion about whether their ways of protesting are right or wrong. As blocking main roads are affecting the public. Others believe it is an effective way of drawing attention to the issue.
