UK TREND : Public outrage with Virgin Media down again
After thousands of people in the UK complained that they couldn’t access the internet for the second day in a row, Virgin Media O2 issued an apology. More than 54,000 people reported their home broadband was down on Tuesday afternoon, according to down detector, a website tracking tool. It happened at the same time that Virgin notified customers of price increases, which resulted in an average 13.8% higher bill.
The company expressed regret for the inconvenience the outages had caused. However, users of the Virgin Media network were infuriated, especially in light of the price increase. The hashtag #Virgin Media was trending across the UK , as people took to twitter to voice their complaints.
Unfortunately we have seen a repeat of an earlier issue which is causing intermittent broadband connectivity problems for some Virgin Media customers. We apologise again to those impacted, our teams are continuing to work flat out to find the root cause of the problem and fix it.
