The Palestinian Forum in Britain and its partners in the Palestine support coalition have called for an emergency protest outside 10 Downing Street in central London on Monday evening, 26 October 2026, at 6pm, in response to Israeli threats to launch a major military operation in the occupied West Bank.

The protest will be held under the slogan “Hands Off The West Bank, End Apartheid”, with several organisations and campaigns supporting the call.

Alongside the Palestinian Forum in Britain, the organisers include Friends of Al-Aqsa, the Muslim Association of Britain, the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND), the Stop the War Coalition, and the Palestine Solidarity Campaign.

Threat of an Unprecedented Operation Since 1967

The call for the protest follows comments by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Friday, 23 October, saying he had reviewed plans with his Defence Minister, Israel Katz, for a major military operation in the occupied West Bank. Netanyahu described the planned operation as unprecedented since the June 1967 war and said the Israeli government would decide when to launch it.

The threat came after an armed attack at a military checkpoint near Hebron, in which two Israeli soldiers were killed and three others were injured. The two attackers were also killed.

Netanyahu vowed to implement what he described as the “offensive model” used by the Israeli military in refugee camps in the northern West Bank, involving incursions into residential areas, the evacuation of residents and house-to-house raids.

The Israeli military launched an operation in Hebron on Friday night and ordered around 250 families to leave their homes. The Palestinian Authority called for urgent international action to stop what it described as the forced displacement of the families.

Israeli forces imposed a cordon around Hebron and announced preparations for a comprehensive closure of the West Bank. Netanyahu also announced plans to build and legalise more than 100 new settlements and more than 100 settlement farms, alongside the demolition of Palestinian homes along roads that he said posed a threat to Israeli forces.

West Bank at the Centre of Election Calculations

The threats come as the Knesset election scheduled for Tuesday, 27 October, approaches, prompting observers and protest organisers to link the escalation to Netanyahu’s electoral calculations.

The organisers said they reject the use of the West Bank and Gaza as arenas for exerting pressure on Palestinians and as tools for the Israeli government’s election campaign, at the expense of civilians, their homes and their land.

The call for the protest carries the slogans “No to occupation, no to apartheid, no to the forced displacement of Palestinians”, and urges the government in London to take a clear position to stop the escalation before it develops into a new war in the West Bank.

The organisers called on Arabs in Britain and all supporters of Palestine to attend in large numbers and raise their voices outside Downing Street.
