The “Epstein Files” are no longer just dark memories from the past. In early 2026, they became a serious judicial and political reality, affecting major figures in Britain. At the end of January 2026, the U.S. Department of Justice released three million documents, 2,000 videos, and 180,000 images, putting the British elite under intense scrutiny. This led to the resignation of Lord Peter Mandelson and renewed calls for former Prince Andrew to appear before the U.S. Congress.

Mandelson: Steps Down Over Financial Links

In what was described as “the end of an era,” Lord Peter Mandelson announced his resignation from the British Labour Party on February 1, 2026, to avoid causing further embarrassment to the party.

This resignation was not related to a personal relationship but to banking documents from Jeffrey Epstein’s JPMorgan accounts, showing three separate payments of $25,000 each under Mandelson’s name.

Although Mandelson denied knowing about these payments, the documents also showed that his wife had asked Epstein to cover high tuition fees, making his political position untenable. In his resignation statement, Mandelson admitted a “serious error” in believing Epstein’s story and issued a public apology to the victims. Meanwhile, the Conservative Party called for an independent investigation into his past ambassadorial appointment despite these links.

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor: Shocking Images and Pressure to Testify

The case of the former Prince Andrew, now using the name Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, moved from allegations to shocking visual evidence. Documents released in January 2026 included disturbing images showing Andrew crawling on hands and knees over an unidentified woman lying on the floor while placing his hand on her waist.

The evidence also included emails showing that Andrew invited Epstein to dinner at Buckingham Palace in September 2010, two years after Epstein had been convicted of sexual offenses against children.

Andrew now faces unprecedented pressure after Prime Minister Keir Starmer called for him to “be prepared to testify before the U.S. Congress,” emphasizing that the victims deserve the full truth.

Sarah Ferguson: Involved in Epstein’s Media Efforts

The new files also revealed details about Sarah Ferguson, the former Duchess of York and ex-wife of Prince Andrew. In August 2009, she sent a message to Epstein describing him as “the brother I always wished I had,” thanking him for his financial support.

More strikingly, the documents revealed that Epstein attempted to arrange a media statement by Sarah declaring he was “not a pedophile,” in an effort to improve his image after his conviction. This placed the former duchess at the center of Epstein’s media operations.

The latest Epstein files reveal more than personal scandals they expose a system of mutual favors between money and influence. Mandelson’s resignation, Andrew’s loss of titles, and his removal from Windsor Castle no longer appear sufficient for the British public, which reacted with outrage upon the  release of these documents, images, and confidential files described as the most shocking in modern political history.
