The Arab women’s mental health initiative M3lesh marked the first anniversary of its founding with a musical and cultural evening held in the capital on 24 January 2026.

The event, hosted at London Hilton Syon Park, attracted a wide cross-section of Arab communities in Britain, with strong representation from the Egyptian community, alongside official attendance from representatives of the Egyptian Consulate in London.

The evening featured a live performance by the London Arab Orchestra, conducted by maestro Basel Saleh, whose programme combined classical Arab musical heritage with contemporary orchestral arrangements. The concert drew a full audience and was met with sustained engagement throughout the evening.

Singer Hayat Selim appeared as guest performer, presenting a selection of songs that were warmly received by attendees. The event was hosted by broadcaster Alaa Abu Al-Shamlāt, whose presentation set a composed and professional tone in keeping with the occasion’s cultural focus.

In addition to the musical programme, the event served as a wider cultural and community gathering. Dedicated spaces within the venue showcased the work of Arab entrepreneurs, including handicrafts, visual art, and traditional clothing, highlighting the diversity and creativity of Arab cultural expression in the diaspora.

The anniversary event also underscored the mission of M3lesh, founded by Dina Mahmoud, which focuses on supporting the mental health of Arab women in Britain. The organisation works to provide safe spaces for dialogue and self-expression, promote community empowerment, and use arts and culture as tools to foster connection and a sense of belonging.

Attendees praised the high standard of organisation and the initiative’s social impact, describing the evening as an effective example of how cultural programming can complement community-focused work.

The celebration concluded with a dinner reception at Al Basha Restaurant, where guests continued discussions in an informal setting, bringing the evening to a close with a reaffirmation of M3lesh’s growing role within London’s Arab community.
